DEDA has been working closely with the top-notch architect team Westlake Reed Leskosky (www.WRLdesign.com) in partnership with SJA (www.sja-architects.com) for the planning and restoration of the beautiful NorShor theatre. Please look them up- you will be very impressed with their portfolios and experience.

On January 12, 2011 we had our first meeting with the team and it was exhilarating. These guys are experts, of course! They’ve renovated many historic theatres- but this is our first experience so we are learning so much from them about the necessary research, practical process, determining timelines, and much more.

A needs and assessment study of over 26 various artists and arts groups has been completed. This included a long list of arts leaders of organizations of all disciplines: music, opera, dance, theatre, film, poetry, visual arts, department heads of university programs, musicians, promoters, filmmakers, festival organizers, special events groups, independent producers- essentially all arts groups large and small, and of all mediums.

The needs and assessment study taught us a lot about what our community needs and gave us many exciting dreams for the space we shared.

While it may seem like it’s been quiet as of late, actually much has been happening within multiple meetings throughout the spring and summer. We have been working hard on renovation plans and a business plan for operations. All this work certainly takes time, and we appreciate your patience. We look forward to completing this important work and sharing plans for your new NorShor Theatre soon.

We are very excited to reach this next milestone. The ball is rolling, and we are working hard to get the doors open as soon as we can.

Thank you!!
